Why do all travel guides look and feel the same?

What if we ignored the obvious tourist sites and included only the best local stories? And how would it look if we hired a different local design studio for each city, working with some of the hottest young photographers and illustrators?

I edited the Barcelona edition, and then oversaw the concurrent creation of guides for four more cities.

Why hadn't anyone tried this before?

Amsterdam, Barcelona, Lisbon, London, Madrid.
