Even more underwhelming than I thought…

If this is the future, where’s my jetpack?

How disappointing. The idea wasn’t so great, but at least it sounded intriguing. Just as well they PR-ed it so heavily before it became reality.

I was expecting to be underwhelmed considering all the hyperventilating hype about it… but I wasn’t expecting to be *irritated* by it. It makes me want to slam it against the coffee table to get it to stop flashing.

what an awful implementation of a good idea.

Of all of the interactive concepts available to them for this, they chose… the BLINK tag. FFS.

Leave it to the Americans to work out new ways of filling landfills with batteries. I suppose this magazine can’t be recycled now?

Actually you can recycle it, Gary. You just have to take it apart, go to your neighbourhood waste management centre, and split the magazine into three sections. Easy (ahem).

The electronic gimmick is just that, a gimmick…but have you read the great content of this issue? I have no problem in using gimmicks to advance the case of ink on paper, two pages of gimmicks vs. 320 pages of good content…I will take that anytime.

    Hi Samir,

I agree, it isn’t more than a gimmick – what’s frustrating is that it’s not as creative as it could have been with the same technology.

As for the content, I’m about halfway through, and enjoying it. Full review to come…
