If any of you happen to be of a South Eastern European persuasion, or perhaps fancy an exotic few days away, why not come to the glorious Bulgarian capital for Sofia Design Week?

I’ll be there speaking, and also on display (from the end of this month until mid June) will be an expanded and updated version of my Objects as Magazines exhibition.

This year’s theme is More or Less. Just about, anyway.

Lis is more

I’m on my way to Lisbon for the Society of News Design (Spanish chapter) conference, hosted by the remarkable Portuguese daily i. I’ll be speaking on the final day, about inspirations, magazines and light. Hope to see some of you there!

I’m going to be speaking next month in Lisbon at the annual conference of the Society for News Design – Spanish Chapter, called ñh6 (full program here, PDF), talking about choosing stories to fit your format (and vice versa). Anyone playing Conference Bingo should mark their cards with the word “magazine” right now.

Also on the rather stellar bill: Luke Hayman, Kris Viesselman, Fernando Gutierrez, Manuel Lima and the team behind the revolutionary new Portuguese newspaper i, as well as various big hitters from the Spanish and Portuguese newspaper, photojournalism and typography scenes. I’m rather looking forward to it. Come along, do.

If you happen to be passing through Milan at the end of this month, I’m giving a talk entitled ‘The Ingredients of the Revolution’ at SignJam Live on 25th May, and also curating the exhibition Objects as Magazines in the gallery/shop Artbook throughout the weekend.

Themes in the former will include new ideas concerning creation, distribution and money making in the magazine world. The latter will be a varied selection of objects from my personal collection, including the occasional Visionnaire and even an Is/Not, if we can find a wall big enough. Stop on by, do.
